Bloomfield is a city north of Hartford. It has the appeal of being centrally located close to the capital city and the charm of a country setting as you head north and west through town.

The international style restaurants in the center draw crowds. The offerings include Mediterranean, American, Jamaican, Italian, Japanese, Thai , Chinese and a wonderful Italian bakery.You will also find most fast food chains represented in Bloomfield.
Bloomfield has grown rapidly over the last few years as new complexes of apartments, condominiums and detached planned unit residences have been developed.
Gillette Ridge Golf Club and Wintonbury Hills Golf Course are both newly constructed. The town offers outdoor public tennis courts as well as a private indoor tennis facility.
Penwood State Park on Route 185 includes 900 acres of walking trails, bike trails, picnic areas and even a small lake. The scenic overlook is worth the 15 minute walk to get to it. The park is used year round as people walk and bike in the warm weather and snowshoe and cross country ski in the winter.
The 4-H Center at Auer Farm is a 120 acre farm that conducts seasonal educational programs and also has gardens, animals in the barn and picnic areas.
The Prosser Library has two branches and participates in the Central Connecticut Interlibrary loan program which allows town residents to borrow materials from all area libraries. The library's programming includes both adults and children. If you are interested in joining a book discussion group you will find one at Bloomfield's Prosser Library.
Bloomfield's recreation department conducts programs for adults and children year round.
There are two large Supermarkets and several pharmacies in town, so shopping is convenient.
